Kanata, Eagleson Place

RGR have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with a number of very large development corporations. This has resulted in a consistent representation by RGR on a number of projects that have been built, modified and in some cases demolished to allow for redevelopment. This site located in the Kanata area of the City of Ottawa is a prime example of this. Initially acquired in the late 1980s and constructed around 1990 the site included a Loblaw’s food supermarket and related retail development. The initial approvals required an Official Plan Amendment, Rezoning and Site Plan approvals. As a Development Approval Process Manager, RGR led the team of professional consultants responsible for obtaining the approvals. RGR was the public face of the development dealing directly with city staff, politicians, ratepayer associations and the media.

Subsequently the site changed ownership and redevelopment was commenced. The Loblaw’s moved to a new superstore format on property adjacent to the site and for which RGR was also responsible for obtaining development approvals. The Loblaw’s was eventually demolished and new uses have been introduced to the site. Most recently, a Home Hardware, a medical center, a Shoppers Drug Mart and a freestanding Starbucks restaurant.

Since that time, the owners have purchased additional land to the west and are considering plans for the ultimate development of these properties.
