Halifax, Dartmouth Crossing

This impressive 500 acre site located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia was acquired by the North American Development Group in 2003. At the time, the site was an active rock quarry and contained and operating asphalt plant as well as a C. and D. disposal site. RGR was retained to direct the overall development approval process and specifically to negotiate with the Province of Nova Scotia with respect to a new interchange required to be built on Highway 118 to service the development. As usual, most public meetings and political aspects of the project were the primary responsibility of RGR. Phase 1 of the project is now largely complete and is comprised of over 2,000,000 ft.² of retail commercial, service commercial and office space.

In every aspect a Brownfields development, the site required the combined efforts of many professionals, most significantly Environmental Design and Management of Halifax. Working with EDM, RGR shepherded the development through the approval process and successfully negotiated a number of agreements with the Province and the City. RGR remains engaged in the project as it moves to phases two and three a business park and a residential community respectively.
